 Enrico IntraPianista dotato di una personalissima e precisa cifra espressiva, compositore, direttore d'orchestra; consacrato, ancora giovanissimo, secondo miglior pianista europeo (il primo fu Martial Solal) dalla prestigiosa rivista francese Jazz Hot. È stato tra i primi a sviluppare un concetto "europeo" di Jazz, aprendosi agli stimoli provenienti dal mondo classico senza perdere il legame con il blues e il naturale senso dello swing. Le sue composizioni si configurano come sfide a schemi formali consolidati e spaziano sino al sacro e al popolare, attraverso una ricerca in cui l'artista si rimette continuamente in gioco. Di grande rilievo sono state le interpretazioni dei suoi brani da parte di Severino Gazzelloni (con cui ha più volte suonato in concerto) e Gerry Mulligan (che con Intra ha inciso la suite "Nuova Civiltà", composizione di ampio respiro, considerata una delle più importanti interpretazioni non da leader di Mulligan). È legato da un lungo sodalizio al chitarrista Franco Cerri e con lui hanno suonato -fra gli altri- Chet Baker e Milt Jackson. Ha fondato il celebre "Intra's Derby Club", tempio del cabaret e del Jazz negli anni '60; ha fondato la Civica Jazz Band del Comune di Milano, città in cui dirige i Civici Corsi di Jazz. Ha al suo attivo una nutrita discografia, tra cui spiccano "Archetipo", "Contro la seduzione", "To The Victims Of The Vietnam" e i recenti "The Blues", "Nosferatu", "Bach-Cage-Intra". Per RODAVIVA ha composto il brano "Per Severino", dedicato a Severino Gazzelloni, per l'interpretazione del Cherubino Flute Ensemble, contenuto nel CD "Il vento, le vele"(RV 013)
A piano player with a God given precision and expresivity, composer, orchestra director, consecrated, still young, second best european piano player (first was Martial Solal) by the prestigious french magazine Jazz Hot. He was among the first to realize a concept such as european jazz, opening himself to new stimuli from the classical world, still without losing his conections with blues and swing. His compositions are schemed as a challenge to the formal format in which they are written, spacing from the sacred to the popular, through a journey in which the artist is repeatedly put in first. Of great importance were the interpretations of hsi songs by Severino Gazzelloni (with whom Intra has played) and Gerry Mulligan (who has recorded with Intra the suite “Nuova Civiltà”, a wide ranging composition, considered one of Mulligan’s most important non leader interpretations). He is connected by a long and old friendship with guitarrist France Cerri and Chet Baker and Milt Jackson, among others, have played with Intra.
